Waltensperger, Charles Original Sketch Book of Charles Waltensperger - Sketches in Spain Hardcover Twenty-seven pencil sketches of life in Spain (one double page) in the early 1900s. The first sketch, of Seville, is dated April 1907. Waltensperger (1870-1931) is known for interior genres and as an illustrator and painter in oils. This sketchbook contains views of Spanish towns (Seville, Toledo) , of country life, of architecture (the Alhambra) , of people observed going about their lives. At least a few of the sketches suggest they were intended as preliminary to paintings. The artist's craft and discretion before his subjects are both immediately apparent. The binding is shaken in places: a few of the sketches are disbound. The carrying strap in gray ribbon is still attached and intact. Price:
