Contemporary full paneled calf stamped in blind on the sides, spines elaborately decorated in gold and with brown and red labels lettered and decorated in gold, edges also decorated in gold. With engraved frontispieces, twenty-one inserted plates, nine maps (four large foldout and five double-spread), in-text illustrations. With the bookplates of noted businessman, banker and collector Richard Lather of New Rochelle, New York. Some wear to boards and spines. Internally extremely clean, with no wormholes.
