Serafini, Luigi Codex Seraphinianus Deluxe Edition. Milano Rizzoli 2013 First Edition Hardcover New revised edition with several additional drawings. Originally published by Franco Maria Ricci in 1981. Limited to 600 numbered copies: 300 for the Italian market, and 300 for the U.S. market. This copy (#47) is part of the Italian edition, which precedes the American edition. Includes the limited, signed Ta-Roc print (#122 of 150). Bright red decorated cloth, yellow endpapers, silk bookmark. The Decodex, a small booklet in a pocket affixed to the rear pastedown endpaper with text in Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian, contains a short introduction by Serafini in which he explains how the Codex came to be. Apparently, a cat was actively involved in the creative process. The book is a masterpiece of fantasy, painstakingly illustrating a non-existent world and written in a non-existent language which, at times, seems to be a surrealist parody of our own world. Serafini, an architect and graphic designer, wrote and illustrated the volumes during a two-year period in the late 1970s. In the beautiful red cloth clamshell box with gold decorations. A fine copy in fine clamshell box. Comes in the original publisher's cardboard box.; Folio Price:
