Engraved frontispiece, seven engraved vignettes and twenty-four hand-coloured engraved plates (nine on coleoptera, three on hemiptera, four on lepidoptera, one on neuroptera, two on hymenoptera, two on diptera, and three on aptera). All the engravings are by Swiss artist Johann Rudolph Schellenberg.
